Astronaut Status, Wiseacre Brewing Co.’s annual limited release barrel-aged imperial stout, is being offered in cans for the first time.
Traditionally packaged in 22-oz. glass bombers, Astronaut Status will be available instead this year in 4-packs of 12-ounce cans.
Smaller packaging for these high-gravity beers means you should be able to crack one open and drink it yourself, as opposed to opening a bigger bottle and having to find a friend or two to share it with.
Wiseacre will be releasing Astronaut Status — in four boozy versions — in cans and on draft at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, at the brewery’s original location, 2783 Broad Avenue.
This year’s Astronaut Status beers include:
- Astronaut Status “OG,” a bourbon-barrel aged imperial stout with cinnamon and vanilla beans. 12.5% ABV. $27 for a 4-pack.
- Astronaut Status “Nitrogenated,” a nitro version of the OG. 12.5% ABV. $27 for a 4-pack. Cans only; no draft.
- Astronaut Status Celestial Rye, a rye imperial stout aged in rye whiskey barrels. 13.2% ABV. $30 for a 4-pack.
- Astronaut Status Double Stuft, a “double barreled” (one year in bourbon barrel, one year in toasted oak barrel) imperial stout, with two times the cinnamon and vanilla. 14.5% ABV. $40 for a 4-pack. Wiseacre only has 17 cases of Double Stuft for sale, so there will be a limit of one 4-pack per person.
