Soul & Spirits Brewery has brought back Holy Ghost American Stout as its winter seasonal beer.
And, for the first time, the beer has been packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce cans.
Unlike many of the stouts you’ll find these days, you won’t taste marshmallow, coconut or chocolate in this beer.
Holy Ghost, 6.0% ABV, is a robust, woody, straight American Stout with no additives.
Ryan Allen, Soul & Spirits’ co-founder and master brewer, described the beer as roasty and easy to drink.
“It’s got a little more bitterness than what you’d find from an English stout, and a little more piny, resiny quality in the hops,” Allen told Memphis Beer Blog.
Holy Ghost is available on draft in Soul & Spirits’ taproom, 845 N. Main St , as well as in six-packs of 12-oz. cans and four-packs of 16-oz. cans to go.
The beer is also headed to local liquor stores and possibly Kroger stores, as well.
Holy Ghost’s name comes from The Bar-Kays’ 1978 song, “Holy Ghost.”
