Let’s raise a toast to the more than 20,000 people who will participate in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend.
And guess what? There’s a Wiseacre beer for that.
The Marathon Weekend, which is the largest single-day fundraising event for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, will feature marathon, half-marathon, 5K and 10K races.
The weekend also brings the return of Lightning in All, a limited release dry-hopped pale ale made by Wiseacre Brewing Co.
Lightning in All, 5% ABV, has been brewed for years to celebrate the St. Jude Marathon. It’s made with Golden Promise malt and lots of Amarillo hops.
As for the name, Lightning in All was named after a line from Robert Browning’s 1879 poem, Pheidippides, about the first marathon.
The beer will be available at the race and in both of Wiseacre’s taprooms.
In fact, Wiseacre is hosting a St. Jude Marathon watch party on Saturday, Dec. 2, at its downtown taproom, 398 S. B.B. King Blvd., starting at 7 a.m. Little Bettie Kitchen will be serving breakfast burritos, french toast and fruit yogurt parfaits until 11 a.m., before switching over to the pizza menu.
Wiseacre will be pouring beers, including Lightning in All, as well as cold brew coffee. Post-race, runners who bring their race bib will get 20% off their Wiseacre beer tabs. Lightning in All will be available on draft and in 6-packs of cans to go.
