Hotter’N Helles, new summer beer from Meddlesome Brewing, debuts May 27

Meddlesome Hotter'N Helles release announcement

Summers in Memphis can get ridiculously hot, so Meddlesome Brewing Co. has brewed a new summer beer with a name that gets straight to the point.

Hotter’N Helles is a 6.5% ABV German-style Helles Bock. The new summer seasonal is being released in six-packs of cans and on draft on Saturday, May 27.

Meddlesome co-founder Richie EsQuivel said Hotter’n Helles has both more alcohol and more malt flavor than a standard Helles.

“We wanted to brew something a little stronger for a summer seasonal than your typical ‘lighter beer’ route most people take,” EsQuivel said.

“Our thought on it was most beer connoisseurs, at this point, have probably been introduced to a Helles. So we wanted something in that vein, but that would stand out.”

“The name,” he said, “was a given.”

EsQuivel said Meddlesome had never brewed a Helles Bock before, “and we’re excited about the challenges of nailing this style.”

Meddlesome will be hosting a release party this weekend to celebrate the launch of Hotter’N Helles. The new beer will be available Saturday starting at noon in Meddlesome’s taproom, 7750B Trinity Road, in Cordova. The Board to Beers trailer will be on site for the event.
