MFS Brewing launches Kickstarter for new brewery

MFS Brewing has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise capital for a new brewery and taproom.

The folks behind MFS Brewing initially wanted to open a bottle/growler shop, Memphis Filling Station, but now plan to open a brewery and taproom with a focus on “small-batch, high-quality, innovative beers,” according to their Kickstarter page.

“We’re raising funds to sign a lease, purchase equipment, and begin build-out for our brewery and taproom in either Midtown or Downtown. We’re currently looking at a few locations and each one has some unique characteristic that we think everyone will love.  MFS is made up of five friends and beer lovers, some with professional beer and over 20 years of brewing experience. We each bring a skillset to the table that is going to allow us to craft amazing beer and enhance the experience for everyone.”

MFS Brewing’s team includes Bryan Berretta (head brewer), Heather Reed (finance and operations), Scott Kley Contini (brewer and sales), Blake Marcum (customer experience, social media and project management) and Jesse Lara (taproom program and strategy).

The startup’s brewers have participated in local beer events, including the recent Science of Beer at MoSH, where they won second place among participating breweries.
