Crosstown, Huey’s collaborate on ‘Fool’s Gold,’ a 4.5% ABV American lager

Label for Crosstown Brewing/Huey's Fool's Gold American Lager

Crosstown Brewing Co. has teamed up with Memphis burger chain Huey’s on a new collaboration beer.

Fool’s Gold, 4.5% ABV, is Crosstown’s take on a premium American lager.

“They had done beers with other breweries in town, and it was time for us to do the same thing,” explained Crosstown’s Clark Ortkiese.

Crosstown made a single, large 60-barrel batch of Fool’s Gold.

Ortkiese described the collaboration beer as “really just kind of a celebration of our friendship with Huey’s.

“We love Huey’s. They’re awesome. They sell a ton of beer. Their burgers are great. Their food’s great. We’ve got a personal friendship with (co-owner) Alex Boggs. He’s a golfer. We’re golfers. He’s in Midtown. We’re in Midtown. We’re both CBHS guys. … All those connections just kind of lined up for us to work with them.”

Fool’s Gold should be available now at all Memphis-area Huey’s restaurants, and it will also be officially released on Friday, May 3, in Crosstown’s taproom, 1264 Concourse Ave.

Crosstown will be selling Fool’s Gold on draft and in four packs of 16-oz. cans to go.

The beer will also be distributed on a very limited basis around town at Joe’s, Busters’s and maybe a few other spots.
