Maroon Brew Co. in Collierville has started selling 16-ounce cans of its beers from the taproom, giving customers a new way to enjoy their favorite Maroon brews at home.
Maggie Emerson, who founded Maroon in 2024, told Memphis Beer Blog the move had been in the works for months but was delayed by limited time and staffing.
“We’ve wanted to do it for a long time,” Emerson said. “I actually bought the seamer and everything back in early spring, but I really wanted to make sure we had time to quality test everything.”
After several weeks of small test runs, Maroon started offering cans for sale earlier this month. Each Monday, the brewery hand-cans three beers for the week, with selections rotating based on customer demand and availability.
The initial lineup has included Gazebo Golden, Abbington Amber, Water Tower Wheat, Schilling Farms Spiced Ale, and Fletcher Festbier, with beers such as East Powell Hazy IPA likely to follow.
“We’ll keep it mixed up, so there’s a nice selection at all times,” Emerson said.
Each beer is sold as single 16-ounce “tallboy” cans, allowing customers to build their own four- or six-packs. Prices correspond to pint prices:
- $4 per can for $6 pints
- $4.50 for $7 pints
- $5 for $8 pints
Maroon, meanwhile, is still going growler fills.
Early response to the cans has been strong. Maroon has selling most of what’s been canned over the course of a week, which means the beers stay fresh.
Emerson emphasized that the new packaging isn’t a step toward distribution.
“Full focus continues to be on just growing the taproom,” Emerson aded. “With that scale, this setup works pretty well.”
Maroon Brew cans are available exclusively from the taproom at 642 West Poplar in Collierville.
