Soul & Spirits’ small-batch ‘Love Vibration,’ a chocolatey, hoppy beer, makes first appearance since 2022

Soul & Spirits Brewery has brought back Love Vibration, a small-batch, complex beer that hasn’t been available since 2022.

Love Vibration, a dark, hoppy IPA, 5.8% ABV, is a really interesting beer: creamy and chocolatey, with hops that deliver notes of strawberries.

Love Vibration is brewed with a touch of lactose, so it’s billed as a “milkshake IPA.” It’s a variation of Soul & Spirits’ Mud Island Ale.

“This one’s dark and hazy. It brings another layer of complexity,” Ryan Allen, Soul & Spirits’ Master Brewer and co-founder, told Memphis Beer Blog. “We focus on hops that are non-tropical. We focus on hops that are berry-forward, that bring notes of strawberry, red raspberry, blackberry.”

“Think of it like a hazy IPA, but not tropical. Dark chocolate, tobacco and berries.”

At Soul & Spirits’ taproom, 845 N. Main, Love Vibration is available on draft and in 4-packs of 16-oz. cans to-go.

It will also be sold in limited quantities in the Memphis area.

Sixtels of the beer — a keg with one-sixth of a barrel of beer, or about 5.16 gallons — have been sent to Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint, Canvas of Memphis, and the Collierville Rotolo’s Craft & Crust.

Love Vibration will also be available on draft at both the Downtown and Cordova locations of the Flying Saucer, as well as the Young Avenue Deli. For Love Vibration in cans, head to Joe’s Wines & Liquor, Kimbrough Wine & Spirits or Rootstock Wine Merchants.

Soul & Spirits named the beer as a nod to Ann Peebles’ 1974 song, “A Love Vibration.”
