Memphis Made Brewing Co.’s annual dark-beer centric festival, “Malted,” returns on Saturday, Nov. 23.
The event will be celebrated for the first time at Memphis Made’s new Downtown taproom location, which features a large outdoor space called the Ravine.
“We’re looking forward to having our first Malted festival in the Ravine. We think it’s a great spot to hang out and drink dark beer all day,” Andy Ashby, Memphis Made’s co-owner and sales manager, told Memphis Beer Blog.
The 2024 edition of Malted will feature several taproom-exclusive malty beers, including:
- Nights Like These, a Scandinavian Strong Dark Ale
- Stouty McStoutFace, an English Stout
- Something Wheated This Way Comes, a 100% Wheat Ale
- Ain’t No Lie, Baby Rye Rye Rye, an American Red Rye Ale
- Procrastinator, a Dopplebock
Ashby and Drew Barton founded Memphis Made — the city’s fourth craft brewery — in 2013, when Memphis had a fledging craft beer scene.
“One of the reasons we started the Malted festival in the fall and the Hopped festival in the spring was to educate people about what goes into their beer. It also gave our brewers a chance to try some new things,” Ashby said.
“Shelby County now has more than a dozen breweries and we’ve moved into a new, larger facility in the Edge District, but we wanted to keep talking about beer and what makes it the world’s best beverage.”
The festival, which starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday, is free to attend.
In addition to the special brews, food truck Smoke ‘n’ Toast will be onsite. The band lineup for Malted will be announced later this week.
Memphis Made is located at 16 South Lauderdale.
