Meddlesome Brewing Co. is throwing an Oktoberfest party this weekend with a unique twist.
Meddlesome’s SKAtoberfest on Saturday, October 14, from 4-11 p.m., will celebrate the third wave of ska music in a fun event that’s free and open to all ages.
“This is our 2nd annual SKAtoberfest. We desperately didn’t want to do a traditional style Oktoberfest party. Don’t get us wrong, we love them, but we wanted something completely different and unique in Memphis,” Meddlesome co-founder Richie EsQuivel told Memphis Beer Blog.
“You usually see horns as part of traditional Oktoberfest celebrations. So, for us, SKAtoberfest, featuring the horn heavy ska music genre, is a nod to those traditions while meddling with them.”
Meddlesome will be tapping three beers for the event: SKAtoberfest, a marzen-style lager coming in at 6.2% ABV; Toil and Trouble, a Belgian Dubbel at a whopping 9.2% ABV; and Blunderbuss, a Vienna lager, 5% ABV.
The music lineup will include The Big News, The Skalors, The Lung Darts, Boss Battle, The Hotrails, Runaway Ricochet, and the Taj Motel Trio.
The event will be held at in Meddlesome’s taproom, 7750 Trinity Road, suite 114, in Cordova.
