Crosstown Brewing’s new spring seasonal, Squonkey Hoppy Lager, coming out Friday

Crosstown Brewing Co.’s new spring seasonal beer is coming out Friday, March 10, and has a great backstory.

The Squonkey Hoppy Lager is a 4.6%-ABV hoppy pale lager with citrus, flower and honey notes.

The beer’s name comes from a nickname Crosstown co-founder Clark Ortkiese gave his daughter, according to Crosstown’s social posts.

When one of our founders, Clark, saw his newborn daughter for the first time, he jokingly remarked that she looked like a half squirrel half monkey hybrid child. Over time the name stuck and now she is quite affectionately known as The Squonkey, The Squonk, or Squonkapotamus. She’s been begging for a beer to be named after her and now is her time!

Squonkey will be released in Crosstown’s taproom on Friday at noon, and will be available after that in stores, bars and restaurants.
