Hook Point opens East Memphis taproom

Collierville’s Hook Point Brewing Company has launched its first taproom in the heart of East Memphis.

The Ready Room, which opened Thursday, is nestled among bars, restaurants and dentists’ offices on the quirky Brookhaven Circle, in the shadow of Clark Tower.

Hook Point’s owners initially planned to open a taproom in Collierville, where the production brewery opened in 2020. But a town ordinance that requires establishments selling alcohol to derive 50% of their revenue from food sales from an on-site kitchen led Hook Point to look elsewhere to open its taproom.

The Ready Room’s location is 715 W. Brookhaven Circle, in the former home of Bangkok Alley.

The brewery’s military and aviation theme, inspired by owner Mike Sadler’s naval background, informs the beer names, from the Cat Shot Kolsch to the Afterburner Red.

A huge whiteboard in the taproom, which serves as the beer list, is the “daily flight schedule.”
