Maroon Brew Co. will celebrate its second anniversary on Saturday, July 11, after spending the past two years carving out a niche as Collierville’s only brewpub.
As craft breweries nationwide continue to navigate slowing sales and other industry challenges, Maroon Brew has focused on creating a destination centered around house-brewed beer, approachable food, and a welcoming atmosphere for families and groups.
“It’s a big deal to get to two years, especially nowadays,” founder and brewer Maggie Emerson told Memphis Beer Blog.
Just two years after opening, Maroon Brew has established itself in the Collierville community.
Emerson attributes a lot of that success to community involvement. Rather than investing in traditional advertising, Maroon Brew has focused its “marketing” on supporting local youth sports teams, nonprofits and community organizations.
In 2025, the brewery was honored as the Collierville Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Year.
From the beginning, Emerson has wanted to make a visit to Maroon Brew’s taproom a “quintessentially Collierville” experience.
“I want us to be, ‘Hey, we’ve got friends in from out of town. Where do we take them? Where do we take them to experience Collierville?” Emerson said.
“We do it the right way. We make sure everybody has a good experience, make sure we’re putting out quality product, and then just make it somewhere you want to come back.”
With the closure of Hook Point Brewing’s production facility in 2025, Maroon Brew is now Collierville’s only brewery.
Brewing for the taproom

Unlike many breweries, Maroon Brew doesn’t package beer for distribution, which gives Emerson the flexibility to brew a wide variety of styles and keep the tap list fresh for returning customers.
“I think just being able to be in our scale and knowing I’m not at the mercy of distribution, I get to be creative and brew all kinds of styles,” Emerson said. “That’s the fun part of it at our size.”
Even with a constantly changing tap list, two beers have stood above the rest during the brewery’s first two years: Gazebo Golden Ale and East Powell Hazy IPA.
Gazebo Golden, 5.5% ABV, has been Maroon Brew’s flagship beer since opening, offering an approachable option for a wide range of drinkers.
“It’s just a solid golden ale. It’s nothing exciting, but you’ve got to sell what people buy. That’s far and away our biggest seller,” Emerson said.
Meanwhile, East Powell Hazy IPA, 6.3% ABV, has emerged as Maroon Brew’s second-best-selling beer and one of its signature hop-forward offerings.
Emerson said East Powell’s bright hop character comes from a heavy dry hop during active fermentation, a technique she uses to maximize the beer’s aroma and flavor.
Although Maroon Brew employs around 20 people, Emerson remains the brewery’s sole brewer.
Cheers to 2 years
As Maroon Brew enters its third year, Emerson isn’t focused on major expansion.
Instead, she plans to continue making incremental improvements to the taproom and investing in the customer experience.
For now, though, Saturday is about celebrating the milestone with the customers who have helped make it possible.
Maroon Brew will be offering a limited menu built around the brewery’s signature smash burgers and hot dogs, along with new appetizers including dill pickle cream cheese bombs and cream cheese jalapeño poppers.
The brewery’s taps will feature returning beers like Pickwick Pale Ale, 6.4% ABV, and Claridge Tropical Wheat, 4.9% ABV, joining Maroon Brew’s flagship beers and other rotating favorites.
“Just come see us,” Emerson added. “Bring your friends.”
