MFS Brewing Co. will release its second-ever Bourbon barrel-aged beer on Dec. 20 — and it’s a festive one.

The Downtown Memphis brewery is releasing a limited run of a “Ginger Molasses Cookie” variation of its Off The Took Truck series that will help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

The 10%-ABV Imperial Porter was aged for 14 months on candied ginger, vanilla beans, cinnamon, star anise, and other dark spices in a Bourbon BarrALZ barrel from Four Roses Bourbon, which was picked in partnership with Kirby Wines & Liquors.

“It’s my favorite holiday cookie in a glass!” Memphis Filling Station co-founder Bryan Berretta told Memphis Beer Blog. “Dark molasses, the spicy bite of candied ginger, all the dark spices and vanilla — it paired perfectly with the spice and oak of the Four Roses barrel.”

MFS only filled 100 of the bottles, and presale reservations for “Garage Club” members starts Thursday, Dec. 18, with the remaining bottles available to the public on Saturday. There’s a limit of two bottles per person.

MFS will also have a limited amount of the beer on draft.

Then, on Sunday for MFS’s 2nd Annual Pajama Party and Sock Drive, they’ll be layering the beer with a special Within Tolerances Egg Nog plushie for a “Santa’s Cookies and Nog.”
