Bearded Iris Brewing Co. will close its Sylvan Supply brewery and taproom on Nashville’s West Side on Sept. 26, leaving its Germantown location as the brewery’s sole taproom.
The announcement, shared by Bearded Iris on social media Tuesday evening, comes weeks after news that Memphis-based Wiseacre Brewing Co. had acquired Bearded Iris, combining two of Tennessee’s two largest craft breweries.
Wiseacre has been brewing Bearded Iris beers in Memphis since March, increasing its brewing volume by 60%.
Bearded Iris will continue to operate as an independent brand with its own identity and leadership.
The Sylvan Supply taproom, which opened in 2021 as part of the redevelopment of the historic Madison Mill site, housed Bearded Iris’s R&D system and lager program.
The move allows Bearded Iris to concentrate its taproom experience at Germantown while production continues at Wiseacre in Memphis
“Our business has evolved so much over the years and it no longer makes sense for us to be spread out over two locations. As we look to the future, this change allows us to concentrate all of our energy and resources on the place where it all started: our original home in Germantown,” the company said.
The announcement went on to say that Bearded Iris is planning to invest in “a new and improved experience at Germantown.
“We’re already planning some notable upgrades, including adding a permanent kitchen on site and revamping our patio with more shade, new seating, and loads of plant life. These upgrades will take time, and we expect many of them to go live in 2026, but in the meantime, we’ll be sure to provide updates as progress is made.”
