There’s something new on the menu at Meddlesome Brewing Co., and this time, it’s not another tasty beer.

Meddlesome is now selling food at its Cordova taproom, including a slate of Panini-style sandwiches, as well as soft pretzels with beer cheese and mustard.

“We set up a sandwich prep area with a sandwich press, so it’s not really a full kitchen, but it makes some tasty food nevertheless,” Ben Pugh, Meddlesome’s head brewer and president, told Memphis Beer Blog.

Meddlesome unveiled its food menu in November, though the idea had been under consideration for awhile.

“We decided to sell food so we wouldn’t have to rely on food trucks to be there every day, which just isn’t realistic,” Pugh said. “It’s also been something we have talked about since we opened, and we were finally able to make it happen.”

The most popular items on Meddlesome’s new food menu so far have been the “Cuban B,” Meddlesome’s take on a Cuban sandwich; “Fuggetaboutit,” a turkey caprese with pesto; and Meddlesome’s soft pretzels, called “Knotty Time.”

Sandwiches come with chips, pasta salad or soup.

Pugh said food will be available at Meddlesome anytime the taproom is open, except for special events when the Meddlesome team won’t be able to handle the demand. On event days, Meddlesome will have a food truck.

One such day will be this Saturday, Jan. 13, for Meddlesome’s annual Heavy Meddle Fest, featuring live local metal music and the release of Heavy Meddle, a Scottish-style wee heavy. The Top Dogs food truck will be onsite starting at 4 p.m.
