Hampline Brewing Co. married a pils-style lager with Hallertau Blanc hops for the brewery’s latest limited offering, Hoot & Haller.

Brewmaster Wes Osier said he took Hampline’s Memphis Natch pilsner base and dry hopped the beer with Hallertau Blanc hops, a newer distinctive German variety that add unique white wine notes.

Osier told Memphis Beer Blog that he brewed the beer because he was curious if Hallertau Blanc flavors complement a pils.

While maybe not a match made in heaven, the result, Osier said, is interesting, “in a good way.”

“I find myself taking a 4-pack home with me more than any of our other beers now to drink with football,” Osier said. “I will brew it again, but it’s not going to be a regular. It’s experimental!”

Hoot & Haller, 5.8% ABV, is available now on draft and in 4-packs of 16-oz. cans to go in .
