Crosstown brews Sweatfest Ale, a watermelon gose sour, for Shangri-La event

Crosstown Brewing Co. has made a special beer for Shangri-La Records’ Sweatfest, an annual outdoor sale of vinyl records and CDs, happening this weekend.

The Sweatfest Ale, a watermelon gose sour, goes on sale today, Friday, Aug. 25, in Crosstown’s Midtown taproom, 1264 Concourse Ave. The beer will be available in cans and on draft, starting at noon.

Today’s festivities at Crosstown will include a live DJ set from John Miller from Shangri-La at 5 p.m., followed by a Bring Your Own Records session on the turntable, where you can be the DJ. Food truck Millie’s Garden will on site from 4-8 p.m.

Sweatfest is happening on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., at Shangri-La Records, 1916 Madison Ave.

In addition to cheap records and Sweatfest Ale for sale, there will be free music starting at 2 p.m. featuring The Sheiks, Fake, Late Night Cardigan, Spacer and J.D. Reager & the Cold Blooded Three.
