Whenever I visit Rock ‘n Dough Pizza + Brewery in Germantown, I always check the menu for new beers. If there’s something I haven’t had, I’ll try it.
But, if I order a second beer, chances are it will be the Barbarian Pale Ale. This generously hopped pale ale has proven to be one of Rock ‘n Dough’s most dependable beers. At 5.6% ABV, it’s not too strong, but packs a stout amount of tropical flavor and aroma, balanced with malt sweetness.
Rock ‘n Dough began as a food truck in Memphis in 2012, but now can claim five brick-and-mortar locations in Tennessee, including Germantown and Cordova in the Memphis area, along with Jackson and two in Nashville.
Rock ‘n Dough used to brew beer at its Germantown location when it opened in 2016, but the small brewing system on site is no longer there.
Rock ‘n Dough’s beers are now brewed about 80 miles east at Hub City Brewing‘s 10-barrel brewhouse in Jackson.
It was reported last month that Rock ‘n Dough will lease the nearly 7,000 square-foot space that formerly housed the Trolley Stop Market for a new location in Midtown Memphis.
